The first thing one notices when gets to tamale is the friendliness of the people.
The town welcomes strangers
People in Tamale smile easily and will go out of their way to voluntarily make sure a person is comfortable
Northern people are very passionate about thoughts& what they believe in and would stand by it. This makes them seem loud.
People in the south have various perspectives with regards to the north of Ghana &changing this was my motivation for writing
Founders Day is a holiday to urge youth to volunteer for events all over Ghana. Check
In Tamale there are 3 events:
Reading/Writing clinic, Tamale Regional library by & league of young women
Event 2: clean up of Tamale central by youth starting from the taxi rank at 7am
Health is wealth!
Event 3: Donation to the orphanage home at Nyohini on Monday spending time with the children
In Nankpaduri organizing a unifying cleanup at market square & drama on peace at chiefs palace
Respect for the elderly is a high note of culture with the people esp youth in Tamale. Most elderly people command respect
Northern chiefs are custodians of culture so much so that a chiefs palace is a rich avenue for any tourist to the north
When the chief sits in state the rich culture is displayed from praise singers to his whole entourage just colorful
several festivals also depict the history &heritage of the people. Notable r the Damba &Fire festival
Ministry of Tourism has recognized the cultural importance of chiefs and their palaces up north as tourist destinations
Witness a colorful durbar of chiefs processing during a festival & the energy will hold you spellbound
Tamale is arguably the fastest growing metropolis in Ghana w/ its attendant waste issues. clean up gets a thumb up
Pizza places and pubs such as Tacorabama, Wooden &Chucks hav sprung up to take care of such tastes
More businesses &people are relocatin up north to the much laid back life. This also calls for 'stuff' as exist in the south
Waakye is on every road junction & thru out the day available somewhere in town.. you just have to find it
Tamale is so ethnically diverse yet people coexist peacefully despite negative perceptions. Social relations mostly cordial
Som sayings wil knock yo socks off when u hear first time. Northern sales people say 'it will enter u!' when buying a shoe.
In Tamale this is breakfast not aside the early morning koko & koose
So I'm a krobo & every time I greet response is 'Naa' which in my Lang means cow. funny huh? Thats cultural diversity for u
Today being a Friday Jummat prayers will be offered all over Tamale & its beautiful seeing the faithful say their prayers
With back roads pretty motorable in Tamale, its possible to avoid crowded areas using other routes to a destination
may Allah hear our prayers and supplications as we seek his face this Jummat
life in Tamale reflects life outside the capital. Thers not pressure on infrastructure like roads so less traffic
Apart from Espresso, all the other networks work effectively depending on signal strength in the metropolis& surroundings
with Glo, MTN, Tigo, Vodafone, Airtel networks work just fine. Tamale is connected to the rest of the rest
Obviously with signal strength high internet data connectivity is also available, making it possible to work anywhere
There are more storey buildings in Tamale now in tandem with the development of the metropolis as urban center
Housing projects in Tamale has also moved from the thatched compound house to apartment duplexes with a shared courtyard
Zoomlion is supporting the clean up campaign on Saturday in Tamale as part of
There are 2 markets: central market and Aboabu, a few mins from each other which serve most of the metropolis
Tamale has a vibrant market that gradually has also become a social tourism site..
Several estate housing units have also sprung up in some suburbs for renting and buying
Telecommunications in Tamale sometimes get erratic but Telco companies are always aim at good service
Financial services are provided round the clock for investment. Most of the major banks have outlets in Tamale
The Tamale Regional library is the venue for Read/Write Clinic with League of Young Female Leaders for Saturday
The aboabu mkt is undergoing construction that will see it becoming a modern day market with ultra modern shops
The buildings there are replica of the architecture in areas like the DuBois Center &Cantonment area in Accra
On Monday activity will be to spend time with children and help out at Nyohini orphanage.
Volunteerism is a selfless act that is done not for rewards but help make the world better place

Volunteering starts small but like you don't know where it will take you
The landscape of Tamale has been changed in recent years with high rise offices and shops too
The old concrete architecture is phasing out to synthetics and glass. Check out the several plazas in Tamale
There are motorbikes than cars in Tamale and almost every household has one.
Volunteerism is setting one’s self apart to do labor, usually unpaid, so others can benefit.
Sometimes yo life lessons wil come from the most unexpectd places like inside a cab

Contributing our quota to developing Tamale will mean we're contributing to the greater good of Ghana
as Ghanaians lets revive the patriotism our forebears left as legacy. We celebrate Founders Day by volunteering
When you see young people in droves carrying melcom bags its indication that service persons have arrived
Just as urban foods/goods come up north, so services hav to be upgraded even in barber shops
When I first came to Tamale I tot cloth was cheaper here cos Thats what all the women wore, even market women
Northern fashion is a blend of traditional and trendy and some guys dress dapper especially for Friday Jummat prayers
A recycling culture is needed to reduce the waste in a fast growing metropolis.
