Yesterday the 4th Annual Pre-Harvest Agricultural Forum was held in Tamale at Modern City Hotel #CurateTamale

The Pre-Harvest brought together over 900 maize, rice and soybean value chain actors from the Northern sector #CurateTamale

On Wednesday (14/10/2015), the Soybean Innovation Lab's first ever Soybean Kickoff Event was held at SARI-Nyankpala #CurateTamale


This brought public and private sectors to engage in dialogue to improve soybean value chain in Ghana #CurateTamale

Why soybean?  Because it is the only complete plant protein,  no cholesterol and can be consumed by the lactose intolerant. #CurateTamale

Did you know soybean can be used to make agushi stew and our very own tubani? Try it, it tastes great and is very healthy. #CurateTamale

Soy flour can also be used to bake breads pastries, thicken stews and soups. #CurateTamale

Soybean contains dietary fibre & good quantities of calcium, folate, magnesium, iron, zinc which are important for our health #CurateTamale

Do you like Orange-Fleshed Sweet Potatoes (OFSP)? They are also grown in the North and are nutritious #CurateTamale

 Former UN-SG, Kofi Annan and his wife Nane Annan were here on 14/08/15 to promote OFSP in Ghana.

OFSP have high Vitamin A and consumption is a key strategy to reduce Vit. A deficiency in children & achieve food security

Vit. A is great for children's eye sight & nutrition. OFSP can be used for weaning foods for infants

OFSP made into flour can be used for baking bread, cakes, pancakes. OFSP can also be used for drinks

OFSP can also be boiled, fried and used for sweet potato yoghurt. So many yummy foods to right?

SARI provides farmers in Northern sector with appropriate technologies to increase sustainable food production

Groundnuts/Peanuts are highly cultivated in most parts of the Upper East And Northern Regions

SARI-Nyankpala is conducting trials to reduce aflatoxin(a mycotoxin that can be found in groundnuts) levels in groundnuts

The sorghum stalk high sugar content and can be consumed just as sugar cane is.

If sugar levels in sorghum stalk are very high, bio-ethanol can be produced after harvesting to reduce fossil fuel dependency

Peanuts are used to manage malnutrition as an active ingredient in RUTFs such as Plumpy Nuts
